One day,
I went to the supermarket
where my wife works at and bought some strawberries.

My wife said that
they were absolutely delicious
because the president of the supermarket bought them directly from the market.

However, when I tried it, I forgot the variety of the strawberries,
but the grains were large and had a good amount of sourness,
and it was very delicious.

Then I was told that the president’s nephew was running a strawberry farm,
so I went strawberry picking there.

We were able to pick strawberries in just like a private plastic greenhouse,
becasue only few visitors there due to COVID-19.

We enjoyed all-you-can-eat strawberries of four varieties,
which were very tasty and very satisfying.

For lunch,
we went to a restaurant called
“Uotami Shokudo” near Hasunuma Water Garden, recommended by the president.

If you only hear the name of the restaurant, it sounds like a some big chain restaurant in Japan,
but it has nothing to do with that, it is a privately owned restaurant.

I was advised to go early because it will be crowded,
so I went there at about 11:20 a.m.,
but there was already a line in front of the restaurant at that time.

I had the pork and garlic rice bowl,
and my wife had the seafood set lunch.

The food was so delicious that we both ate mindlessly,
and it was worth the wait.

I highly recommend it.
You should try it if you visit Chiba!

   Hay Fever
■■■■■■■■■■■■■■■■■■■■■■■■■■■■■■■■■■■■■■■■■■■■■■

Spring has arrived
and it’s a hard time for people has hay fever.

I am also allergic to cedar pollen.
Every spring,
I suffer from allergies and it is a difficult time for me.

To tell the truth,
I want to burn all the cedar trees in Japan.
I’m sure there are many people who feel the same way.

But I wondwe what are the benefits of cedar trees in this country?
Let’s check how the tree works in Japan.

~Advantages

Save us from natural disaster
→When planted on the slopes of mountains,
they can prevent natural disasters such as landslides.

2. Prevent global warming
→Cedar trees absorb carbon dioxide at a high rate,
and this rate does not decline until the trees get about 50 years old.

I wondered if I, as a human being,
was more harmful to the earth than the cedar trees.

But
I still don’t like cedar pollen.

If it allowed,
I would like to go out to work wearing a stuffed animal or a big Buddha custume
to protect myself from the pollen.

Of cource, I will do my job well.

Please don’t get mad at me if you see me work in a big Budda costume. Thanks!

   TKG(“Tamago Kake Gohan”)
■■■■■■■■■■■■■■■■■■■■■■■■■■■■■■■■■■■■■■■■■■■■■■

According to data released
by the Ministry of Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries of Japan,
exports of agricultural, forestry and fishery products for the year 2020
rose 1.1% from the previous year to a record high of 922.3 billion yen.

On the other hand,
exports of eggs and rice were strong due to stay home.

In Hong Kong, where is Japan’s largest export market,
the export value increased by 1.2%, and the consumption of eggs for household use increased significantly.

One of the reasons for this is that
“TKG” (“Tamago Kake Gohan”, which means raw egg on the rice) using Japanese eggs is popular in Hong Kong.

Originally,
there was no culture of eating raw eggs in Hong Kong.
However, Japanese eggs have become popular
because they are brightly orange in color and have a richer taste than those from Hong Kong.

As I was writing this article,
I also had an strong urge to eat TKG!

I will ask my family
that we go to an all-you-can-eat TKG restaurant on our next vacation.

   The Lost Items
■■■■■■■■■■■■■■■■■■■■■■■■■■■■■■■■■■■■■■■■■■■■■■

The Chiba Prefectural Police has compiled a report
on the handling of lost property over the last year.

According to the report,
the lost items are not only wallets and driver’s licenses, but also living hedgehogs and 3 million yen in cash were included!!

The number of reported lost and found items in 2020 was 658,699,
155,716 items has been decreased from 2019.

Could this be due to people refraining
from going out due to the spread of the COVID-19?

The number of reports of lost property was 202,944,
up 4,637 from the previous year,
and the number of returns to owners was,
unfortunately, 75,062, down 15,695 from the previous year.

Driver’s license had the highest return rate in the lost items.
with about 96% of the items returned.

In Japan,
even if you drop your driver’s license,
there is a very good chance that it will be returned.

I left my cell phone on a train a few years ago,
but it was found at a station in Kanagawa Prefecture
and I was able to pick it up the next day at the nearest station.

Also,
when Riku (the name of the tortoise I keep in my garden) escaped,
he was protected at a neighbor’s house and returned to my house the next day.

Japan is said to be a peaceful and safe country,
and I’m totally agree with that.

   Perplexus
■■■■■■■■■■■■■■■■■■■■■■■■■■■■■■■■■■■■■■■■■■■■■■

Lately, my son has been addicted to a 3D maze called Perplexus.
I feel it was a bit noisy,
but when I tried it,
I found it was something that even adults could get into.

Perplexus (formerly known as Superplexus) is a 3-D ball-in-a-maze puzzle
or labyrinth game enclosed in a transparent plastic sphere.

By twisting and turning the sphere,
players attempt to maneuver a small steel ball
through an intricate maze composed of about 100 steps along narrow plastic tracks.

Additionally,
some of the steps involve dropping the ball into a cup
or through a small rim to take advantage of its three-dimensional nature.

There are obstacles of varying difficulty
that must be navigated in order to reach the end.

My son says that he’s up to his 56th clearance.
I’m only up to number 7.

I’ve been battling with the maze of gravity.
On holidays, I struggle with it.

Eventually, I will reach the 125th point.

It’s going to take me a while.
But I will do it.
